54 businesses scanned · 12 were refusing AI crawlers

Your customers ask an assistant. Can it read you?

More people now ask ChatGPT, Perplexity or Gemini for a recommendation than scroll a page of blue links. The assistant answers from what it can actually fetch and parse. This tells you, in about twenty seconds, what it sees when it visits your site.

Free. No signup, no email required, nothing installed, nothing changed on your site.

Measured, not estimated

We scanned 54 real businesses.
Twelve were turning AI crawlers away.

Pool service, HVAC, roofing, med spas, wedding venues, party rentals, landscaping. Every number below came from a live scan, and every one is something the owner can confirm themselves in under a minute. Anything we could not prove twice, we threw out.

6served their homepage to Chrome and refused it to GPTBot. Same second, same address, only the user-agent changed. That is a rule singling out AI crawlers.
7had a robots.txt naming GPTBot, ClaudeBot or Google's AI crawler and telling it to leave. Almost always a plugin default nobody chose.
22%failed one of those two tests. Neither depends on who is asking or from where, and both are verifiable by the owner in seconds.
28had business markup missing the address, phone or hours, the exact fields an assistant needs to answer "where are they" and "are they open".
43%had no llms.txt, the plain-language business summary assistants increasingly look for first.
16scored 90 or better and needed nothing from us. We told them so. The scan is free either way.
One number we deliberately do not publish. Eight more sites refused our request outright. That can mean a security setting is blocking AI crawlers, or it can mean a host simply distrusts our address while letting the real crawlers straight through. From one vantage point there is no way to tell, so we report it as worth checking rather than as a problem. When a scan says your site is blocking AI, it is because we proved it twice.

What we check

Twelve checks. Every one verifiable.

Each finding comes with the exact URL or the exact line of source that demonstrates it, so you can confirm it before you spend a dollar. We do not deal in scores you cannot check.

Can they get in

Whether GPTBot, OAI-SearchBot, PerplexityBot, ClaudeBot, Google-Extended and eleven others are allowed in, blocked by name in robots.txt, or stopped by a security gate before they ever reach a page. We test this by asking twice from one address with two different identities, so IP reputation cannot confuse the answer.

Can they tell who you are

Whether your site publishes LocalBusiness structured data with a real address, phone and opening hours, and whether it has an llms.txt an assistant can read in a single pass. This is the difference between "a website exists" and "a business an assistant is willing to name".

Can they read the words

Whether your actual copy is in the HTML or only appears once JavaScript runs, plus titles, headings, descriptions, sitemap, HTTPS, response time and link previews. Most crawlers never run your scripts, so what you see and what they see can be two different pages.

Straight answers

Before you ask

Is this just SEO?

No. SEO decides where you rank on a page of links. This decides whether an assistant can read you at all before it writes its answer. You can rank first on Google and still be absent from every AI answer, and that is exactly what we keep finding.

Why is the kit only $49?

Because the work is bounded and a machine does it. It is a handful of files and a block of markup, generated from your site in about a minute. Anyone charging you two thousand a month for this is charging you for the meetings.

What if my score is already good?

Then we say so and you keep your money. Sixteen of the 54 sites we scanned came back at 90 or above. If yours is one of them, the scan is still free and we have nothing to sell you today.

Do you touch my website?

The scan reads only what your server already serves to the public. Nothing is changed, no login is needed, nothing is stored beyond the domain and the score. The Fix Kit gives you files to paste. We never need your password unless you buy the install tier and explicitly grant it.
